YouTube celebrates its 10th birthday with hip, greatest hits Video

YouTube, an online video platform that enables people to watch and share videos online, created on April 23, 2005 - announced its intention to continue its tenth birthday celebration by launching a 26-day series of blog posts that would highlight some of the most memorable moments, from the silly to the profound that have helped define the history of the site. Each of the blog posts intended on celebrating a significant topic from the site’s history at the beginning of May.

To celebrate YouTube’s 10th anniversary, the creators of the video platform have now compiled YouTube’s greatest hits - summed up in  just under 3 minutes in a clip entitled "Youtube A to Z" against a hip-hop backdrop. The video site has also gone ahead to launch a number of other features related to its A to Z project, including an infographic, and a quiz that asks users to test their YouTube knowledge.

YouTube has come a long way since that first video went live, in 2005, and according to the company's official statistics, 300 hours of content are uploaded to the site every minute, and there are more than a billion users signed up and subscribed for content on the online video platform.
